New 90 4-stroke ROCKS...

Suzuki 2009 Brochure

DF70, DF80, and DF90: When it comes to 4-stroke outboards Suzuki is known to have pioneered many technical advances that make these motors better. In these new 2009 outboards they have built a more compact 4-cylinder Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) powerhead with four valve per cylinder and 91.7 cubic inches displacement on the 70, 80, and 90 Horsepower models.

Suzuki 90

The 90-HP is one of the smallest and lightest in its class

Incorporated into these fine outboards are advanced technological designs which include a digital sequential electronic fuel injection and a solid state ignition for improved performance and efficiency, Suzuki's proven offset drive shaft for a compact design and better balance, a powerful 2.59:1 final drive ratio for quick hole shots and great top end performance and a zero-maintenance self-adjusting timing chain. In addition these Suzuki outboards feature a powerful 30 amp alternator to provide all the juice boaters and anglers need for all day operation of pumps, electronics, trolling motor, and more.

Each boat, especially the smaller 17 foot watercrafts, have an outboard weight limitation which prevents them from using some brands. Suzuki's DF90 uses a compact powerhead and offset driveshaft that make it the smallest outboard in the 90 horsepower class. It's engine height is only 58 1/2 inches whereas competing 90-HP outboards can be as much as nine inches taller. Aside from the dimensions, the new Suzuki 90-HP outboard is said to be the lightest 4-stroke 90-HP outboard on the market.

"These new models bring serious advantages in performance, efficiency and size, and they deliver these benefits right to the heart of the fresh and saltwater boating market," said Larry Vandiver, Marketing Director of Suzuki Marine. "Our factory set out to develop outboard motors that represent all we've learned about marine power. They're quicker, faster and lighter than the competition on a wide range of boats. Our testing has shown that, once again, they've hit the bull's eye. Suzuki is going to 'Power 4-Ward' and leave other 4-strokes a step or two behind. These three new models are going to give other outboards in the class a serious case of 'performance anxiety'," added Vandiver.

Because the DF70, DF80, and DF90 outboards are compact in size and lightweight, they are great for flat boats, small center consoles, pontoon boats, and small aluminum and fiberglass fishing boats. Recommended operating range for these new outboards is at 5000 to 6000 RPMs.
